Clearly, diabetes and physical activity are better together.

However…

In the case of Diabetes exercise supervision is a must because in certain situations physical activity will lead to higher levels of blood glucose and ketone bodies in diabetes type 1 increasing the risk of low blood glucose in a diabetic person which can have fatal consequences. Exercising with the best personal trainer in London at your side helps you to become fit and achieve your health and fitness goals.

In this blog we discuss the effects of anaerobic and aerobic exercises on diabetes and health.

Diabetes and Anaerobic exercises

The ATP (adenosine triphosphate) energy required by the body to make even the slightest movement is created by some tiny generators inside each cell, called mitochondria [1].

Like in the case of combustion automobiles, energy production process has its drawbacks – waste acid is formed.

The type of toxins that are part of this waste is determined both by the type of fuel used and the environment in which it is consumed.

Under ideal conditions carbon dioxide is released – less toxic acid – but often results in the production of lactic acid, which is more toxic.

The body has a sufficient supply of oxygen to obtain energy through respiration, which produces carbon dioxide eliminated through the lungs. Without sufficient oxygen, the fermentation process that occurs discharges lactic acid into the tissues.

An elite personal trainer in London is very different from just a personal trainer as it have many years of experience and help you achieving the best results.

It takes 20 parts oxygen to neutralize some of the carbon dioxide [2] and to maintain a delicate balance of 7.356 pH in the body.

You will notice that after a marathon or a sprint race, runners are bent, with their hands resting on the knees or just stretch, and are breathing hard: they desperately need oxygen to neutralize excess acid accumulation in the race; otherwise they can faint or even die.

We require plenty of oxygen all the time to keep our body healthy and alkaline [2].

Targeting specific goals with my clients among other things we do means that we work closely together to improve their breathing patterns. Pilates benefits and assisted stretches are immense as they help to rebuild correct posture and optimum breathing patterns.

Custom dynamic Pilates routines are very effective balancing/recovery tools for anyone running a marathon, triathlon or practicing any sport.

Anaerobic exercise diabetes (in the proper sense: without oxygen) or in excess – whenever you exercise until you get to breathe heavily, struggling to get oxygen – leads to increased acidity and blood, overloading the pancreas and triggering that vicious circle which leads to diabetes [1].

At first, it lowers your blood sugar, as sugar is consumed first to produce energy. Next, they turn to the adrenal glands, releasing adrenaline, which transmits signals to the liver and muscles to release sugars (glycogen) stored at this level [3].

This release of glucose provides short-term fuel for producing energy, but in the case of an insufficient amount of oxygen (during anaerobic exercise or intense effort), increasing the amount of glucose creates more acid, thus entering the vicious circle of alternating states of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, which leads to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes [3].

Without enough oxygen the body is forced to enter the mode of operation for purposes of preservation [3] causing cholesterol to buffer and conserve the fat acids, which in turn leads to obesity. Lifting weights is a classic example of anaerobic exercise. Classic exercises like push-ups, sit-ups, pull ups on a chin-bar and resistence cable workout fall into the same category. The best personal training services in London helps you achieve your goals safe and faster.

Beside these exercises I would advise including various aerobic exercises (“with oxygen”), that we tend to practice excessively until they are virtually anaerobic, like running, mountain biking or climbing stairs.
