I was diagnosed with PCOS around 3 years ago and struggled to get pregnant naturally with my first child.

My period had always been irregular and I knew that I was not ovulating each month.

As the time approached for me to try for my second child, I really wanted to find a way that I could get pregnant naturally.

This required me to address my symptoms.

I historically struggled to lose weight which was hugely demotivating and felt frustrated that I was not making progress.

Emotionally I felt drained and frustrated with conflicting advice – not knowing what to do to fix my hormone issues and regulate my period.

On top of that, I was very conscious that if I did not lose the weight before baby number 2 came along, I was never going to be able to lose it.

When it comes to PCOS, there is a lot of conflicting advice about diet and exercise.

Not knowing what to listen to, it felt like I was going to have to restrict everything and just eat vegetables, which I knew would not be sustainable in the long run.

I found Jazz after searching on google for PCOS nutritionist and training London based since, I needed an expert nutritionist and trainer focussed on PCOS.

I knew that I needed a focussed plan with someone who understood the particulars of the condition, rather than a generic plan that I had tried versions of 100x.

Jazz was able to professionally tailor a very focused plan that addressed; my diet and exercise, such that:

  • I now have my period back,
  • have more energy,
  • reduced back pain,
  • feel stronger,
  • fitter,
  • faster,
  • healthier

And I feel that I have a way forward that is sustainable and a lifestyle change rather than a quick win or fad.

I feel like my old (younger) self again, before baby number one and am ready to embark on trying for baby number 2.

We trained at home and at my local park.

Jazz was very adaptable to my schedule and always travelled to me which made it very convenient – especially with a young child and busy job.

As part of the medically supervised exercise and nutrition plan I was provided with a compressive range of recipes and expert dietary advice to understand where I was going wrong.

i.e., In my particular case I needed to cut out diary, saturated fat and sugar. Eat more grains and vegetables.

However, rather than feel constrained, the large number of delicious recipes made me feel that I had plenty of yummy foods to eat.

I have served these recipes to friends for supper and everyone was raving about them – it does not feel like a compromise or diet.

He provided plenty of practical steps for me to follow.

E.g., simple and new rules and ideas to follow that I didn’t know before like:

  • easy to prepare food so that I can do it during the week,
  • clear understanding of where I was going wrong before,
  • understanding that it is a journey and not a sprint and juices and smoothies’ recipes to help me get the nutritional benefits of a lot of vegetables.

Also, it became evident that I needed to take supplements and sort out a thyroid issue that medical professionals had missed.

The other side of the programme was the exercise.

We focussed on a wide range of customised exercises to fix certain issues that in turn impacted other areas, creating a virtuous circle and meant that I was quickly making progress.

Key areas that we developed were; Flexibility, Strength to support faster running and cardio, core exercises and lower back to help with lower back pain and balancing out movement so that I was developing equally and improving posture.

Jazz is very motivating.

He constantly tells you where you have improved and asks you to self-evaluate.

He helps develop the building blocks for you to continue the training after he has finished the transformation programme with you

My favourite exercises were:

  • Sprinting – I am now 300% faster and have much more endurance than before
  • Arm and leg raise on your belly – I have greater flexibility and strength than before
  • Rows – dramatic improvement in my upper body strength
  • Lunges – focussed on technique which is significantly better and will protect my knee which was at risk of being damaged
  • More core stability – side planks, sit-ups
  • Much more flexibility – can now bend and touch my feet

As a result of working with Jazz, I have a lot more energy, am stronger and fitter, and am much more toned than before.

My upper body endurance has increased between 200 to 300 %.

I am much more toned on my core / stomach, legs and arms.

In fact, my muscle tone has increased by about 200% and my body coordination, endurance and stamina have all increased by 100%.

I really enjoyed working out with Jazz, particularly outside.

The training was always challenging but he never pushes you more than you can.

The next day I never felt too much muscle pain, meaning that I was pushing myself without risk of injury.

I used to experience back pain including some sciatic pain.

I am not experiencing back pain in the same way.

There is a huge improvement in my back health compared with before starting to train with Jazz.

I can now feel the strength in the supporting muscles and I don’t have the sciatic pain I used to have any more.

I would recommend Jazz to anyone who wants more than just a PT.

He provides you with a lot more experience and knowledge than a traditional PT.

He is extremely motivating and will push you to achieve your goals.

He has a different way of working out – unlike other PTs that I have worked with.

He spends a lot of time working out what needs fixing (stuff you are not even aware of) like postural inconstancies and will create a plan that will build flexibility, strength, endurance and speed without you being aware of the method/science.
