Diabetes is a very serious disease where glucose can’t get inside the cell and be used as a fuel. Professional support from an elite personal trainer in London helps you to get fit and live a healthier, balanced and happy life.

Diabetes mellitus type 1 and type 2

Diabetes causes many negative health symptoms  including drowsiness, tremors, fainting, inability to focus etc,  and carries the risk of limbs amputation, severe disability and lethal consequences.

Exercise for diabetes require insulin, glucose monitoring.

Exercise are a must in diabetes cases. Among other things exercise increases insulin sensitivity receptors allowing glucose to get inside the cells.

However,  physical activity can also create higher levels of blood glucose and ketone bodies especially in diabetes type 1. This will be increasing further the risk of low blood glucose in a diabetic person and could be creating fatal consequences.

This is why exercise supervision under a personal trainer in the case of Diabetes is a must !

In some circumstances people might increase their diabetes risk also by putting on weight hence many people would want to learn how to lose weight quickly but in the most safest manner.

This is why a personal training programme and a weight loss diet plan containing the latest diabetes nutrition guidelines will make all the difference you require regarding your diabetes management and health.

Exercise for Diabetes and Fats versus Carbohydrates

The Fuel

The problem with anaerobic exercises or excessive effort is that in the absence of oxygen, cellular metabolism switches from respiration to fermentation [1].

This means that the cells consume glucose primarily for energy, which results in the accumulation of lactic acid [2].

Lactic acid is highly toxic. It causes pain and cramps that are felt during and after exercise – muscle pain that occurs after a workout, for instance.  Lactic acid is always in high concentration in the body when there is irritation, inflammation or pain (as well as inside or around cancerous tumours!) [3].

However, when energy is obtained by burning fat and not carbohydrates, acid production cuts down to half, while the amount of energy doubles.  This is important in everyday life, but more importantly for exercise. Performing the correct exercises allows the body to function on the fat metabolism, whilst eliminating acids.

Thus you are not only managing to reduce acidity, but you also increase your endurance and strength, improve the performance of all body functions. With professional support from an elite personal trainer London you can improve your quality of life enhancing its duration.

Depleting  your carbohydrates  reserves – running out of  glucose

If you have diabetes, when glucose is consumed for energy, you feel drowsy.

Thinking may be blurred and can become agitated or anxious. You can have trembling sensations, you can have cold hands or feet or burning sensations in other areas of the body [2].

You can hear breathing your – inhale and exhale through your mouth instead of your nose – and you cannot have a conversation during exercising. Your muscles are tense, fists are clenched and feel a lump in your throat. Sweat can smell like ammonia.

Your peripheral field of vision may narrow and you can have a feeling of detachment from the environment, even to the point of no longer hearing, for example, while running [5].

You can have systemic or localized pain. In short, you do not feel good!

The way you feel when you burn fat is in stark contrast.

You feel peaceful, reconciled and in contact with the environment, even euphoric. You think clearly, breathe easily and quietly through your nose and you can talk during exercising.

The facial expression is relaxed and happy and feels more flexible.

All senses are sharper; you do not feel any pain. You can get “runner euphoria” without consuming a huge amount of energy, like in a marathon, through proper nutrition and the right type of exercise. An elite personal trainer Canary Wharf based will help you achieve your fitness goals.

No pain, no gain?

When you do exercise until exhaustion (anaerobic exercises),  excess acids are formed that break down cells and increase blood sugar levels [1].

The pain during exercise for example – pain, irritation, inflammation – is often due to the release of lactic acid in the tissue, as the body struggles to maintain the pH at 7.365 [4].

Working out until you feel pain is a sure path to disease, including by diabetes.

If you feel pain, it means that the environment of the body’s acid levels and blood sugar is unstable. This is why acustomised nutrition plan from a nutritionist and personal trainer London based, containing cutting edge nutrition advice with diets that work for your diabetes will make a massive difference.

If you feel at any time pain or discomfort during exercise, stop immediately and get hydrated with a healthy green drink.

A Healthy Detox Plan and a Focused Nutrition Programme is Half the Battle

Medication, a proper diet with a detox diet plan and a customised personal training programme  are three of the most important tools used to control diabetes.

During and several hours after exercise, the body has an increased energy consumption.

Therefore, the excess sugar is removed from the blood, which in turn leads to reduced levels of sugar.

A detox diet plan will help you to eliminate faster unwanted chemicals, metabolic waste and toxins keeping your body healthier and making it work more efficiently. Having the best personal trainer in London at your side provides you with safety and peace of mind as you will be performing the most effective and correct exercises under observation.

Regular exercise increases detoxification effects, help greatly in regulating blood sugar levels and may protect you against the dangerous heart disease [6].

While most exercises are considered to be healthy for people with diabetes, there are some specific types of exercises that are more beneficial. However, it is always better to consult your doctor before starting any exercise programme. After consulting your Doctor, training with a personal trainer in London for you is the best option.

In addition, make sure you check your blood sugar levels before and after you exercise.

Stay tuned for the next blog where we’ll discuss high intensity training (HIT) and diabetes exercise guidelines.
