Seven digestive symptoms and six practical steps to better digestive health

Do you have any of these SEVEN DIGESTIVE Symptoms?

1. Heartburn

2. Bloating

3. Upset stomach

4. Nausea

5. Belching

6. Feeling full earlier than expected

7. Gas, Indigestion-Impaired Digestion etc

These are just some of the Dyspepsia Symptoms which could come from a problem in the upper gut [oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum] …. All of these digestive symptoms including ulcers, and stomach cancer amongst other things, have in common a high population of Helicobacter Pylori bacteria! This is something that’s worth checking.

Here are SIX things you can easily implement to alleviate your digestive symptoms, – by no means this list is all you could do as highlights just one of the cause. You can check out more hereabout what people are saying about Jazz Alessi nutrition services or Click here to contact  directly, The Nutritionist .

What is Helicobacter Pylori?

Helicobacter Pylori is a bacteria found in the stomach and is routinely found in gastritis and gastric ulcers that unfortunately is also linked to the development of duodenal ulcers and stomach ulcers and cancer. Helicobacter pylori could also be the cause of some cases of non-ulcer dyspepsia [symptoms of dyspepsia with no apparent cause]. A good nutrition plan will help to alleviate these digestive symptoms controlling the type of bacteria forming in the gut and therefore easy or resolve any digestive problems that you may have.

What you can do about helicobacter pylori and these six digestive issue; is there a natural way to control it?

The first step is to work closely and get a very clear diagnosis from your doctor and to make sure that your symptoms are caused by helicobacter pylori. Once this is done it is very likely that your doctor will suggest you go on an anti-biotic course.  While I suggest that you work closely with your doctor I also want to advise with regard to a few alternatives you can use and to focus on natural foods as an effective way of minimising the risks while keeping helicobacter pylori under control. Natural nutrition, and an effective, comprehensive and individualized nutrition plan, will help to isolate the issues keeping digestive problems at bay and prevent nasty bacteria developing in your  gut. A natural nutrition plan can contain (but not limited to)  lots of raw greens, vegetables, healthy nuts and seeds and gluten free grains, and selected fruits all tailored to your oxidative stress level and  individual requirements that create an optimum balance inside your body, and outside. There are many ingredients which fight helicobacter pylori and in turn aid good digestion.

To start with I’ll focus on one group of food and a few compounds called Sulforaphane.

Sulforaphane is an active agent found in sulphur-containing foods clinically documented to be very effective at inhibiting Helicobacter pylori growth. Among other things sulforaphane that comes from naturally hydrating  clean and tasty raw-vegan food sources will strengthen your nutrition plan and provide you with extra protection as they also contain  very powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anticancer and antimicrobial compounds.

Sulforaphane rich sources foods: Brussels sprouts, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Bok choy, Kale, Collards, Arugula, Broccoli sprouts, Chinese broccoli, Broccoli raab. These natural foods are rich sources of another sulphur-containing compounds called glucosinolates.

Sulforaphane additional benefits: Research carried out at Tokyo University of Agriculture proved that people who consumed small amounts of sulforaphane rich foods [100g] such as broccoli sprouts each day for one week, reduced cholesterol levels (LDL)  in their blood and lowered their blood pressure. High cholesterol levels is directly linked with cardiovascular disease and cancer and other dangers such as stroke, arthrosclerosis, impotence, dementia, high levels of C-reactive protein (an inflammation marker) and obesity and death and the list goes on and on therefore it is very important to keep the LDL- cholesterol in check. While all medical drugs come with dangerous side effects, natural foods help bring down your cholesterol levels providing you with a great anti oxidant intake and wonderful extra benefits.

In order to become a carcinogen the chemical compound resulted from food, environment and / or viruses-bacteria metabolism first need to bind to the cell DNA. Once these chemicals and viruses become bound to the DNA from there they can induce any carcinogenic mutations therefore a nutrition plan that is rich in anti oxidants is key in keeping your body healthy providing you with high levels of protection against these dangers.  Study after study has shown that plant based nutrition is much healthier compared with any other type of diet or nutrition plan, is in the win and it is here to stay.

Broccoli sprouts are particularly rich in glucoraphanin. When we chew broccoli we release an enzyme called myrosinase which transforms glucoraphanin [a glucosinolates] into sulforaphane.

Consumption of broccoli sprouts has shown to be very effective at inhibiting and destroying Helicobacter pylori growth. Sulforaphane is also found in Kohlrabi, Mustard, Turnip, Radish, Watercress and Cabbage etc. The breakdown and digestion of these foods releases Isothiocyanates.

Isothiocyanates enhances natural detoxification processes and might prevent or even fight cancer  via detoxification pathways eliminating potential carcinogens. Isothiocyanates also positively support the transcription of tumour suppressing proteins.

Thyroid and Goitrogens a word of caution: Although cruciferous vegetables are a powerhouse full of anti oxidants if you suffer from hypothyroidism or any thyroid issues you should use them in balance because these can cause or accelerate thyroid imbalances even causing goiter (also caused by iodine deficiency or excessive exposure to certain type of chemicals found in food or the environment). Cruciferous vegetables are containing goitrogens and goitrogen-induced goiter is associated with hypo- or hyperthyroidism condition, autoimmune thyroiditis and thyroid cancer so, please be open and mindful when you are making your nutritional choice and assure that you know both sides.  Here are a few natural alternative suggestions you could use in your nutrition plan.

If you haven’t got any thyroid issues simply eat more from these foods: Brussels sprouts, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Bok choy, Kale, Collards, Arugula, Broccoli sprouts, Chinese broccoli, and Broccoli raab, Kohlrabi, Mustard, Turnip, Radish, Watercress and Cabbage! Alternatively cut down or eliminate any form of processed sugar.

SIX ACTION STEPS: take control over some of your digestive issue and improve life style, too!

1. Find out from your doctor if you have any allergies or any condition or digestive symptoms which can worsen if you eat the foods I listed above.

2. If you have no allergies get ready and research the subject thoroughly. Get the research and talk to your doctor to get him on board so he may work with you rather then against what you want. Once your doctors knows that you desire using a clean and tasty raw-vegan natural nutrition plan they will do their research and will try to help you.

3. Eat more foods such as the ones I listed above. Eat as much raw as you can, you can add it to smoothies, juices, salads, meals, the list is endless!! This is how you will get the benefits!!

4. Juice Kale, Broccoli, Celery, Parsley, Dill, Cabbage, Lemon, Ginger… (also be mindful if you have thrombosis or any other blood clothing problems – these foods are exhibiting powerful pro-coagulant properties – if this is the case do not use them!) and follow a pure raw-vegan tasty and balanced nutrition plan high in fiber to enhance body detoxification and incorporate green juices to give your digestive system a break but also to allow your immune system to strengthen and recover eliminating bacteria, viruses and any morbid matter…

5. Eat as pure as possible and experiment with mono eating making sure you take out all animal products (at least for 6-8 weeks) and known allergens.

6. If you have digestive problems follow the food combining rules to enhance your digestion but also look at nutrients co-factors and foods that you shouldn’t mix from the absorption point of view – this subject it is very complex.

If you are looking to alleviate your digestive symptoms ideally is to work with a nutritionist who will design for you a safe individual nutrition plan or a nutrition programme you can follow as a short cut and to achieve immediate relief and results.

As a nutritionist I will take you through a very comprehensive consultation and advanced lifestyle assessment and I will be working closely with you one-on-one identifying correctly where your digestive symptoms come from and what’s the best way to address it.
