Personal Trainer London Programme beats Maria Sharapova and Lance Armstrong without drugs

PSYCHIATRIC CONSEQUENCES OF PERFORMANCE ENHANCING MEDICATION: performance enhancing medication (PEM) or drugs as we all know are used to boost sports performance by a person [1]. Use of these drugs to gain advantage is termed illegal in the world of competitive sports. Most of the attention by the media and authorities are focused on top performing sportspersons.

This gives the wrong impression that only a few high profile persons abuse these substances.

As a Harley Street nutritionist and an elite personal trainer London based I know that some top athletes want to sky-rocket their performance during their personal training at any price and are tempted to use banned substances to train harder.

Sometimes at the Harley street nutrition clinic some top athletes inquire what are the best and safest performance enhancing medication or drugs boosting performance. I realised that many athletes simply don’t know a simple fact. Targeted, focused, customised nutritional strategies, safe supplementation and cross-training workouts as we provide act as very strong performance enhancers, are very effective, sustainable, side effect and risk free and more beneficial in the long run.

Enhancing significantly your energy levels, endurance, performance, reducing tiredness and shortening your recovery so you can train more and harder in a method that is better, safe and natural. This is, however, not the usual job of just about any nutritionist or personal trainer as one really needs to know what to do.

We enhance your physical and mental performance by optimising your body biochemistry, organs functioning, body systems, and the elements in your blood.

This is why we provide you with completely tailored to your goals very targeted, powerful strategies – all risk and side effect free; a natural alternative to the banned substances.

Maria Sharapova, Marion Jones, Lance Armstrong, Tim Montgomery and Ben Johnson Caught  Using Drugs Boosting Performance

Different Drugs and Substances Used To Enhance Their Sport Performance

1. Maria Sharapova – banned for 2 years for meldonium use. Meldonium is believed to work through its ability to increase the size of blood vessels and therefore improve blood flow and this enhances endurance enabling the athlete to exercise longer at a higher intensity. [3] This drug comes with well known side effects and two of these side effects are lipid accumulation and tumorigenesis.[3]

2. Justin Gatlin – banned for 4 years for testosterone use. Testosterone increases the muscle mass due to its anabolic effect and this enhances the ability of an athlete to exercise longer. [4] This drug comes with well known side effects and two of these side effects are prostate cancer and benign prostate hyperplasia. [5]

3. Marion Jones – was stripped of her medals she won in 2000 Sidney Olympics for Tetrahydrogestrinone use. Tetrahydrogestrinone reaches the nucleus of a cell, it binds to the androgen receptor at the ligand-binding pocket. Here it changes the expression of a variety of genes, turning on several anabolic and androgenic functions and this enhances ability of athlete to exercise longer [6] This drug comes with well known side effects and two of these side effects are cancer and cardiotoxicity [7]

4. Tim Montgomery – banned for 2 years for testosterone use. Testosterone increases the muscle mass due to its anabolic effect and this enhances ability of athlete to exercise longer [4] This drug comes with well known side effects and two of these side effects are prostate cancer and benign prostate hyperplasia. [5]

5. Lance Armstrong – banned for life for erythropoietin use. Erythropoietin increases the haemoglobin content and its anabolic effect enhances ability of athlete to exercise longer [8] This drug comes with well known side effects and two of these side effects are death and myocardial infarction.[8]

6. Ben Johnson – banned for life for testosterone use. Testosterone increases the muscle mass due to its anabolic effect and this enhances ability of athlete to exercise longer [4] This drug comes with well known side effects and two of these  side effects are prostate cancer and benign prostate hyperplasia.[5]

ANABOLIC STEROIDS

One of the most abused PEM are anabolic steroids [1]. These are especially used by body building aspirants in order to gain muscle mass rapidly. Apart from well known adverse effects of these steroids on cardiovascular system such as atherosclerotic effects and cardiomyopathy severe psychiatric effects like dependence syndromes, mood syndromes, and progression to other forms of substance abuse can also complicate their use [1]. As an elite personal trainer London based and Harley street nutritionist I emphasize that the best way to build a healthy strong body is the natural way and by avoiding these drugs. Other colleagues’ nutritionists in Harley Street also caution the prospective physical trainers about the adverse effects of these medications.

PSYCHIATRIC EFFECTS

Numerous studies have described psychiatric symptoms associated with illicit PEM use, including mood disorders [9, 10, 11]. These field studies have suggested that some PEM users exhibit hypomanic or manic symptoms during PEM exposure (such as irritability, aggressiveness, exaggerated self-confidence, hyperactivity, reckless behaviour, and occasional psychotic symptoms) and depressive symptoms during PEM withdrawal (such as by depressed mood, loss of interest in usual activities, hypersomnia, anorexia, loss of libido, and occasional suicidality) [9, 10, 11].

Evidence suggests that mood disorders are more common in individuals using higher doses of PEM. Psychosocial factors account for many of the differences in psychiatric vulnerability observed among PEM users. Occasional field observations have also documented strikingly aggressive or violent behaviour in some PEM users who had no history of such behaviours. These include cases of previously normal individuals committing murder [9].

CONCLUSION

Expert know-how, customised nutrition and smart lifestyle is the best tool you can use to maximise your performance and gains. It protects your body against oxidative stress damage and many types of diseases including cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer [12,13,14,15,16,17,18].

As an elite London based personal trainer I know that “the lure of rapid success is very irresistible however the short and particularly long term effects of these medications are quite disabling”. And as a Harley Street nutritionist I’m providing all the professional support required for training free of PEM so performance sky-rockets while the sportspersons quality of life improves in general.

Whether you’d like to break a new training record to boost your performance naturally, tone up and lose weight, lower cholesterol levels and live longer-younger every single thing start with a single step.
